What to Pack for The Bluewater Cottage Perfect Getaway!

When it comes to renting a cottage for a week-long getaway, packing can be a bit overwhelming. You want to make sure you have everything you need to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay, but you also don't want to overpack and lug unnecessary items around.
To help you out, we've put together a list of essential items to bring to your cottage rental:
  1. Bedding and Towels: The Bluewater Cottage provides bedding and towels (one towel for every guest) it is a good idea to bring outdoor towels or extra towels if you feel you may need them.
  2. Toiletries: Don't forget to pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and any other toiletries you need for your stay.
  3. Sunscreen and bug spray: Spending time outdoors is one of the best parts of a cottage vacation, but you'll want to protect yourself from the sun and bugs. Be sure to pack sunscreen and bug spray!
  4. Snacks and food: The Bluewater Cottage's kitchen is stocked with basic utensils, cookware, and a BBQ but you'll need to bring your own food.  Plan out your meals ahead of time and make a grocery list so you don't forget anything important. The closest grocery store is approximately 20 minutes away.
  5. Entertainment: While there's plenty to do at our cottage, you may want to bring along some entertainment for those rainy days or lazy afternoons. We have kayaks (PLEASE BRING LIFE JACKETS AS WE DON'T HAVE ALL SIZES) and a beautiful deck for lounging. Maybe you'll want to bring books (we have a library that people exchange books in), we have many board games and cards, as well as a TV to enjoy during your downtime. Don't forget to bring your floaties, our dock is great to tie a line and float for hours!
  6. Clothes and shoes: It's important to pack for the weather and activities you have planned. Bring appropriate clothing and shoes for hiking, swimming, and any other outdoor activities you plan to do. We have a beautiful rock beach, which means we have no weeds and crystal clear waters to swim, but sometimes the rocks can be slippery so we always recommend water shoes!
  7. First aid kit: Accidents can happen, so it's always a good idea to bring a first aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic, and pain relievers. We do have a safety kit at the cottage for emergencies but always good to be equipped.
  8. Electronics: While you might want to unplug during your cottage vacation, you'll likely still need to bring your phone and chargers. Additionally, if you plan to work remotely or stay connected, bring your laptop or tablet.
  9. Life Jackets: We do have two kayaks on the property and it is required you wear a life jacket if you plan to use them. BRING LIFE JACKETS! We do have some but we have limited sizing so to ensure you have the correct size and fit, we tell all guests to bring their own!
